So it seems that there has been word that Omnivision will be the company that will be providing image sensors for the next iPhone and now word has it that according to industry sources who reportedly told Digitimes, Largan will be the company that will be providing the 8MP lens for the iPhone, and that they could be receiving orders from Apple in Q3, which seems to around the same time everyone else thinks the next generation iPhone will be making an appearance.

Currently Largan’s main business is in 5MP camera lenses while 8MP camera lenses attribute to about 10-percent of the company’s business, although all of that could change if the rumors are true and Apple starts ordering 8MP lenses from them. If all the rumors of the next generation iPhone turn out to be true, from what we gather we should be seeing an iPhone with an 8MP rear facing camera with the flash unit being moved to the other corner of the device. It looks like the next iPhone is shaping up rather nicely.
