It looks like Kobo has launched a new version of their eReader and is now available for pre-order and it should be shipping out early June in time for Father’s day. According to the press release:

“Kobo’s Real Touch™ experience uses Neonode’s new zForce™ infrared touch technology to make reading on Kobo just like that of reading a real book.  With the latest Pearl E Ink™ technology, reading on the new Kobo eReader is just like reading print on paper – it’s easy on the eyes, even in bright sunlight.  The new eReader is powered by the new Freescale™ i.MX508 processor, a high-performance engine designed to enable fast page turning for electronic paper displays.”

The pricing for the Kobo eReader is at $129.99 or $139 CAD and available for pre-order at Indigo (www.indigo.ca), BestBuy (www.bestbuy.ca), Walmart (www.walmart.ca) and Borders (www.borders.com). It will come with a free $10 gift card. For $129.99 it does make for a rather affordable and very practical Father’s day gift, so not only can dad catch up with all his books but also his magazines and newspapers, but it will be all under one device.
