Is The Nokia N9 Back?

Published

on

When Stephen Elop took over the CEO position at Nokia he talked about burning platforms and wanted to shake things up and one of his efforts was to enter into a partnership deal with Microsoft in order to create Windows Phone 7 devices in order to compete against the iOS and Android operating systems.

Nokia’s N9 was part of that burning platform and was supposed to be their flagship with their Linux based operating system – MeeGo. While we thought that would be the last we would see of the Nokia N9 it seems that a recent filing at the FCC begs to differ, bringing the device one step closer to receiving the FCC’s stamp of approval. The device claims to support six cellular frequencies as well as Bluetooth and 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, which means it will be compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile.

So what exactly does all this mean? Will Nokia be pushing both MeeGo and Windows Phone 7 devices or will the Nokia N9 instead receive the Windows Phone 7 treatment? Guess we will have to wait and find out.
