iPhone 4 To Arrive In India May 27th
The sales of smartphones are expected to receive a boost in India as telecom companies roll out 3G services offering high-speed data transfer capabilities. CyberMedia Research expects sales of nearly 12 million smartphones in India during 2011 which is nearly 100% growth from 2010 and smartphones are expected to account for 5.7% of total mobile handset sales in India this year, compared with 3.6% last year.
Better late than never, that’s what I’d say. Bharti Airtel will be charging $763 for the 16GB version of the iPhone which will be partially recovered by the users in terms of credit over a 24 month subscription. Prices will vary from state to state due to local taxes. No word on how much Aircel will be charging.
