Fujitsu To Launch 7-Inch Tablet This Year

Remember not too long ago we wrote about Fujitsu’s tablet convertible, the THC40/D? Well turns out that the 10-inch THC40/D was aimed more at enterprise users but it looks like they will be creating a smaller version, a 7-inch version to be exact, for the consumer market.

It will feature a 7-inch display and will be running on Android Honeycomb 3.1, unlike the THC40/D which is actually a Windows device. It is unknown at this point in time whether the 7-inch tablet will be like the 10-inch version that features a slideout keyboard or just all touch screen only.

If it were to be a convertible like its 10-inch sibling then it would be in direct competition with ASUS’s Eee Pad Transformer that apparently will be sporting much better specifications at a cheaper price. Pricing right now is purely speculation and supposedly Fujitsu will be tagging a $400 price tag for the low-end model that comes with 16GB of storage capacity. While the specs still remain unknown, presuming it will only be similar to the THC40/D, at the price of $400 what’s to stop customers from going ahead and purchasing the ASUS’s Eee Pad Transformer instead? Let’s hope that this 7-inch Android tablet of Fujitsu’s will prove itself different.
