eBay And PayPal To Sue Google Wallet

Well it seems that barely a day has passed since Google launched their Google Wallet service and already they have been sued by eBay and PayPal for allegedly stealing trade secrets in order to launch this NFC payment service. That was quick wasn’t it? It seems that eBay accused Google Wallet’s project leader Osama Bedier of feeding confidential PayPal information to Google to help it create the NFC payment system, and also causing former eBay executive Stephanie Tilenius to break her contract by having her join Google as its VP of commerce in February 2010, which was a month before she finished a consulting contract with eBay.

They claimed that Google and PayPal were in the midst of concluding a deal of their own which would have offered PayPal as one of the payment options for the Android Market, but apparently Bedier was poached by Google before the deal could go through, effectively causing it to fall through.

It was only just yesterday that Google had everyone excited about the Google Wallet service and now if it turns out that all of these allegations are true, it could very well destroy the system they had just created. Google has yet to comment on any of these allegations so stay tuned as we will keep you updated.
