Control Multiple iDevices From Your iPhone

There have been an increasing number of situations whereby films and television shows have been recording with rather unlikely device, for example using the Canon 5D MK II to film the last episode the previous season of House, and there has also been a case where a director from South Korea used an iPhone 4 to shoot his film. So is it really that big of a surprise to find out that there’s an app that now allows you to control up to four iDevices?

Introducing the CollabraCam.

As pictured above the app allows you to see from four different iDevices all set up at various angles. For budding film makers with a limited budget this app would be extremely handy allowing them to record their films and allowing multiple angles. At $5.99 it is really quite the steal.

Now the bad news is that the app requires a WiFi network in order to function. This does not mean you would require an internet connection but rather a WiFi connection so the use of a mobile hotspot would do the trick or perhaps a laptop-powered ad-hoc network. The other bad news is that it only allows for recording at 640×480 and not 720p so there might be an issue with image sharpness. On the brightside this is probably a good first step for budding film makers or those who are on a tight budget, just don’t expect to be showing your movies in cinemas any time soon.
