As it stands, in China, China Unicom is the only carrier in China that carries the iPhone. However not too long ago it seems that China Mobile has also reached some sort of agreement with Apple that would allow the carrier to bring in the next generation iPhone, whether it be the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5. Now it seems that China Telecom who is a newcomer to the scene has stated that they are now in touch with Apple about introducing CDMA iPhones for its network.
The carrier operates the country’s largest fixed-line network and is now trying to promote its broadband services over that channel. If the deal goes through it looks as though 3 carriers in China will be carrying iPhones which could lead to some interesting competition.
