Samsung’s Nexus 4G phone has been around in the US since December last year, but despite the phone being unlocked, the phone can only be used on T-Mobile’s networks if users wanted 3G. A few months later Sprint announced that the Nexus S would be coming over to their network, except this time it was going to sport a radio capable of connecting to Sprint’s CDMA/WiMAX 4G network and it would be renamed to the Nexus S 4G. People were excited, even more so when pre-orders started going up, but despite all the hype, people were in the dark about when the phone would be arriving.

Until today. Sprint has just announced that the 4G/CDMA stock-Android device from Samsung will hit retail outlets beginning May 8 – in about 2 weeks time. In case you’re in the dark to what the Nexus S 4G is, the phone packs a curved 4″ Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and stock Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Oh and of course the usual Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi. The 4G WiMAX-capable CDMA phone will go on sale for $199.99 with a 2-year contract on Sprint. Anybody still going to pick up this phone or are you holding out for a dual-core phone later this year? Check out our Nexus S review if you’re still on the fence about the phone.
