Microsoft calls it a day for Zune portable media player

Microsoft’s answer to the iPod, the Zune portable media player, will soon be no longer available to the masses no thanks to years of mediocrity and weak sales – at least that is what Bloomberg reports. Sounds pretty reasonable to us since Microsoft would be a whole lot better off in focusing their efforts on Windows Phone 7 instead as that platform is already having a hard enough time trying to go up against both Apple and Google. While Microsoft will continue to sell all of their existing Zune stock, they will not be introducing new ones anytime soon. Too bad for the guy who got the Zune tattoo – nothing lasts forever, right?
