MetroPCS has announced that it will be allowing VoIP over its new LTE network. After the FCC accused MetroPCS of not following the net neutrality rules (which basically means that lawful content and services on the internet should not be restricted by service providers and governments) the carrier has decided to enable such services over their network. They released a 20-page filing explaining their reasons for not allowing it in the first place, citing that their existing CDMA network wasn’t fast enough to allow it and that their 4G phone, the Samsung Craft 4G (a BREW-based handset) didn’t have a VoIP client anyway. But now, with several Android handsets launching on their new LTE network, it looks like they have no more reasons to not include VoIP support. Is VoIP an important feature you must have on your network?
