Thinnest smartphone in the world officially announced

The NEC Medias we mentioned yesterday has been given an official unveiling. Called the MEDIAS N094C, the phone was manufactured by NEC Casio Mobile and will be sold by Docomo in Japan on March 15. The phone is what it has been hyped up to be – a skinny 7.7mm body of metal, with a weight of only a 105g. It packs a 4″ Gorilla Glass LCD (854 x 480) display, runs Android 2.2 (Gingerbread promised for the summer), a 5.1 megapixel camera capable of shooting fast shots, an e-wallet function (NFC), a 1Seg digital TV tuner, infrared, Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi. No prices were announced but the device will come in black or white when it goes on sale. Hopefully it makes its way to the US. Hit the break to check out a video demo of the phone:
