After reporting that Samsung Galaxy S users out of the states will be getting their Gingerbread (Android 2.3) update in March, we didn’t expect it to be March 1! It appears that the Gingerbread update has leaked onto the internet. The update brings your Samsung Galaxy S up to Android version 2.3.2 and includes the latest version of Touchwiz (4) as well. It’s been noted that the leaked file is still in beta, so if you’re interested in checking it out, do so at your own risk. Take note that the ROM is only for the i9000 version of the Galaxy S – the vanilla, unbranded version that’s being sold in the rest of the world (Epic 4G, Vibrant, Captivate and Fascinate users will have to wait). It’s nice to see Samsung being efficient with the update this time around, hopefully US users won’t be denied or heavily delayed of the update this time around. Head over to XDA-developers if you’d like to get your hands on Gingerbread.
