It’s been recently reported that Nokia has confirmed that they will be allowed to modify Windows Phone 7 in any way they want. Talk about a change of heart – Microsoft had previously announced that they wouldn’t be allowing manufacturers to make any changes to the Windows Phone 7 operating system because they didn’t want to face the same problems that Android currently faces – slow updates due to manufacturers applying their own skins/modifications to the stock OS. Fortunately Nokia has mentioned that they won’t be doing any heavy modifications and it won’t interfere with any updates that Microsoft will release for Windows Phone 7. It hasn’t been made known if other manufacturers will get the same deal as well, but for now the Microsoft-Nokia partnership is shaping up to be pretty interesting.
