At the Mobile World Congress yesterday, Microsoft gave a detailed presentation about Windows Phone 7 (again) and spent some time on the new features in the upcoming release (what we’ve all been waiting for). And the verdict? The upcoming version of Windows Phone 7 is a much more polished version of Windows Phone 7, with features that should have been in the operating system in the first place but as they say, it’s better late then never. Here’s what the next version of WP7 will have: Twitter integration similar to how Facebook is currently integrated in the OS, a new Skydrive capability integrated in Office, IE9 support for WP7 (with HTML5 support – still no mention of Flash though), multitasking (yay!), and compatibility with the Kinect for gaming. With over 8,000 apps, available on the Windows Marketplace (and more to be added with the integration of Nokia in the future), it sure looks like Windows Phone 7 is finally getting up on its feet and starting to run the race with the big boys. Let’s see if Microsoft can continue their growth at this momentum until WP7 matures.
