Kyocera Echo dual-touchscreen Android phone arrives on Sprint

Sprint has released some info on the Kyocera Echo – the network’s first dual-touchscreen Android phone. The Kyocera Echo is designed in such a way that it allows users to run two apps simultaneously on each screen. With the Echo you can Facebook and YouTube at the same time without having to switch apps. Even surfing the web for research and running Google Docs on the other screen becomes a possibility. The phone also runs certain apps that are optimized for the two touchscreens – for example, the mail app if used with the phone vertically, will use the left screen for listing out the emails in your inbox and the right screen for the email itself. And if having two screens is too much for you, the phone can even be used as a single screen phone. The Echo will feature a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, two 3.5″ screens (4.7″ combined), 1GB of internal storage with an 8GB microSD card (expandable up to 32GB), runs Android 2.2, a 5 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, WiFi hotspot capability, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The Kyocera Echo will retail for $199.99 with a 2-year contract when it drops this spring.
