Windows Phone 7 facial recognition

It looks like security for Windows Phone 7 is about to get tighter. A developer has released a face recognition system for Windows Phone 7 based on the open source Facelight libraries. The face recognition system is quite simple and works by comparing two images together in order to get a match. The face recognizer is quite limited at the moment and can only detect one face per image, but it is a good example of what can be done with Silverlight in the meantime. Expect developers to improve the technology to bring a more advanced face recognizer in the future – biometric security for Windows Phone 7 devices perhaps? Only time will tell.
