Some folks previously heard rumors that Verizon Wireless was planning to do away with its mail-in rebates and now additional information has surfaced, confirming that such a move will take place. According to the leak, mail-in rebates will be replaced by instant rebates on all smartphones priced at $150 and above. With that in place, customers will only need to pay the final subsidized price when buying a phone, instead of paying an extra $50 and waiting for it to be reimbursed by mail. The new deal should go in effect on January 31st.
