T-Mobile UK recently lowered their Mobile Internet ‘s monthly 3GB data plan’s cap to just 500MB, which upset quite a lot of people, especially users who are constantly streaming videos while on the go. Their new data cap means that users who go over the allocated 500MB will not be able to use their phones for high-bandwidth activities such as watching videos, download files or play games. However, browsing websites and checking emails will still be allowed. In preparation for the complaints, they even included their reasons behind the cap reduction in their press release.
We do have a fair use policy but ours is there to make sure we deliver the best service possible to all our customers. This means that you’ll always be able to browse the internet…If you want to download, stream and watch video clips, save that stuff for your home broadband.
It looks like if users want to use more data, they’re better off suited with a different plan. What do you think of their decision to lower the data cap?
