This isn’t going to be the happiest bit of news out there today, but Nokia will be ending its deal of bundling free music downloads with cellphones in 27 countries, as the service didn’t get much support since its launch back in 2008. The cellphone giant will continue to sell phones with 12-month subscriptions for free music downloads over in China, India and Indonesia, while countries such as Brazil, Turkey and South Africa will get 6-month subscriptions.
Possible reasons for this failure might include the use of older devices for the product when it was launched, not to mention the inclusion of digital rights management (DRM) software that locked the music to the device, something that many consumers aren’t fond of.
