Jawbone ERA: a Bluetooth headset that stands out from the crowd
Bluetooth headsets have been around for awhile now, and in terms of features and functions, they haven’t changed a lot since they were introduced. Well the folks at Jawbone have done something about it. Introducing the Jawbone ERA, a Bluetooth headset with more features than you can shake a stick at. This wireless Bluetooth headset is the world’s first and only headset with a built-in accelerometer, MotionX technology, a multi-processor architecture, HD audio and a connected app platform to enable a rich new hands-free experience. For crying out loud, it’s like having a computer in your ear! Jawbone’s mission is to take wearable devices to an entirely new level and it looks like they succeeded with the Jawbone ERA.
The Jawbone ERA features HD Audio which means all sounds coming from it are in an extremely high-quality (of course if the person on the other end doesn’t have a very good phone/signal it’s not going to sound as good, but when conditions are optimal, it’s pretty much like talking to someone who’s speaking into your ear. In addition to delivering HD Audio for your voice calls, it works with your videos, music and games as well. The headset features NoiseAssassin – military grade noise-cancelling technology that ensures your voice will be heard without any interference from the background, even if you’re in a noisy area. The headset also has a built-in accelerometer and MotionX to bring a whole new way of controlling your headset – give it a shake to pair it with your phone, and give it two taps to answer or end a phone call. According to Jawbone, these commands are only the beginning and they plan to add more functions in the future. An inbuilt-processor means that the headset has processing power to run apps by itself. Caller ID, voice emails or texts and so much more – are all possible through this amazing device. New apps will be developed for the headset and you can easily update it just by plugging it into your computer and going online to personalize the device.
With a touted battery life of 5.5 hours of continuous usage, it should be sufficient for most people – after all, anybody who needs to speak on the phone more than 5 hours a day is probably behind a desk with a landline phone. The Jawbone ERA comes in 4 different colors (Shadowbox, Midnight, Silver Lining and Smokescreen), is available now and can be purchased online for $129.99.
