The HTC EVO Shift 4G is now official. After months of leaks and sightings of the device, Sprint has finally announced the device to the world. The HTC EVO Shift 4G is a 4G WiMAX-capable Android handset that features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. And according to the press release, it will contain a 5 megapixel camera – not 8, that was mentioned previously in the Walmart product listing. Other specs include: a 3.6″ capacitive touchscreen, Android 2.2, WiFi, Mobile Hotspot capability, GPS, Bluetooth, a microSD slot that supports up to 32GB. The phone will be priced at $149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract. It will be available from all Sprint retail channels starting this weekend, January 9. Looks like Sprint is leading the race with the amount of 4G-capable devices under their belt. Let’s see what the other carriers will come up with to compete in this race.
