Hacker finds evidence of Qualcomm baseband for next-gen iPhone/iPad?
An Italian hacker was going through the iTunes code when he discovered information that hints at Qualcomm being the baseband provider for the next-generation iPhone or iPad. The code was obtained by decompiling the latest version of iTunes, which probably won’t make Apple too happy. Of course, it’s worth mentioning that Qualcomm might also be the supplier of the baseband for the current Verizon iPhone, which would mean that the references inside the code merely point to the CDMA iPhone. That being said, considering that Apple already has a Verizon iPhone amongst its line of products, it shouldn’t be too hard for the fruity company to incorporate CDMA technology into its future products, and hopefully that’s what will happen.
