Google Android event on February 2

Is Google trying to steal the limelight away from The Daily’s launch? It has been reported that Google has begun sending out invites to the media about a special Android-themed event (with the Honeycomb logo on the invite) on February 2, which also happens to be on the same day as the launch of The Daily (Apple and News Corp’s upcoming iPad newspaper). The Google event promises an in-depth demonstration of Android 3.0, and other than that we’re not sure what else to expect – perhaps an explanation of how Honeycomb will be integrated with smartphones (if it integrates at all – it has been speculated that Android 2.x will be for phones, while 3.0 onwards will be for tablets only), and plans for the future of Android? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Stay tuned for more details.
