GeoHot might release new untethered iPhone jailbreak on February 10
GeoHot, the hacker who was recently handed a restraining order from Sony might be not allowed near a PlayStation, but that doesn’t stop him from tinkering around with the Apple iPhone. According to a tweet from MuscleNerd, another famous iPhone hacker, GeoHot might be releasing a new untethered version of the iPhone jailbreak in 10 days. Currently, jailbroken iPhones are of the tethered variety, meaning you need to connect your iPhone to a computer if you want to reboot it. An untethered jailbreak would eliminate the need for a computer to be present after a reboot, and would save jailbroken users from a lot of inconvenience. Let’s hope his legal battle against Sony won’t be delaying any release dates.
