Microsoft has just announced that they have managed to track down the cause of excess data being sent and received on their Windows Phone 7 devices. Apparently it’s due to a popular third-party app that a lot of people have on their phones. It wasn’t stated what the third-party app is so we won’t know for sure, but Microsoft mentioned that they have contacted the developer and are helping them with making the necessary fixes to the software. They are also looking further into the case to see if there are any problems coming from the operating system itself. Good on them for wasting no time in looking for the problem, let’s hope Microsoft keeps up this great support for their operating system (and deliver those promised updates on time).
