BlackBerry ‘Balance’ will separate corporate and personal data

While RIM should be pretty happy about its upcoming PlayBook tablet, the company isn’t just going to sit around and do nothing. The company has confirmed several upcoming features that will be part of its enterprise network. One of the more interesting features will be a set of “Balance” controls for devices that contain personal and corporate data. Once the device has been setup correctly, IT staff will be able to wipe only the corporate data from the device and also prevent the user from copying their work information to personal email or applications.

Other features also include new encryption options for media cards, not to mention warnings if the user is trying to send an email or calendar invites to addresses outside of the organization. The BlackBerry Protect feature will also be arriving, providing functionality similar to the Find My iPhone feature on iOS. The new features are expected to be launched sometime early this year.
