We’re going out on a limb here as there are whispers on the grapevine that Apple is working on new 3D displays for their next generation of iPods and iPhones, although these will rely on upcoming technology that will not require the need for a pair of glasses – now how about that? Sounds ltoo good to be true? Perhaps, but this could very well be due to the bunch of patents that Apple has filed for. In fact, an unnamed source did mention in passing that Apple is working on some batches for the next refresh – although you should keep in mind that none of the 3D patents are directly associated with mobile products. We do think that should this come to pass, it will take at least a couple more years or so before the technology hits mainstream as Apple will certainly want to perfect their device before releasing it to the masses.
