Android Honeycomb might require a beefy phone/tablet to run

When the announcement saying Gingerbread would run on any phone that could run Froyo came, a lot of people breathed a sigh of relief when they knew they would be eligible for an update. But according to the latest rumors, it looks like they won’t be having the same luck with Honeycomb. The managing director of Korea’s Enspert consumer electronics firm has been quoted saying that the next version of Android (Honeycomb) will require a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor in order to run properly – which pretty much rules out most of the phones available today, and not to mention a large number of tablets including the infamous Samsung Galaxy Tab. It will also require a 1280 x 720 pixel screen resolution, but it should be able to run on displays that are at least 7″. Let’s hope Google clears the air about this during CES 2011 this week. How many of you would be disappointed if your current Android tablet won’t be able to run Honeycomb?
