Word Lens lets you understand foreign signs with your iPhone

A new Augmented Reality app has hit the iTunes App Store, and it’s been making waves all over the internet recently. The app in question is called Word Lens. What the app does is it translates any sign you point your phone’s camera at. It’s that simple. The translated sign will appear on your screen almost instantaneously and in the language of your choice which depends on the language packs you have installed (at the moment it only supports English to Spanish and Spanish to English). Granted, you probably won’t have a use for it every day, but if you find yourself in a foreign country with the iPhone as your only companion, it can help you get out of a fix quickly. Not to mention the ingenuity of this app- let’s see how much creative developers can get with their phones. Word Lens is available for free to download on the iTunes App Store, but each language pack (in-app purchase) costs $4.99. Watch a video demo of it in action after the break:
