Viber – yet another app that allows you to make free voice calls

In today’s world where everybody already has free minutes extra to burn with their monthly phone bills, another app that gives you free VoIP calls isn’t helping to alleviate the situation. Regardless, it’s still good news for consumers looking to save a quick buck. Viber is another app that joins in the fray of VoIP apps already available for the iPhone (Google Voice, Skype etc). It basically allows you to call other Viber users for free- if you’re on WiFi or on an unlimited data plan, this basically translates into free calls for you and your friends even if they’re not in the country. You can even make regular calls to non-Viber users through the app, but it will make use of your minutes instead. One feature it has over Skype is that the app still works when it’s not running. This means you won’t miss any calls or notifications just because you forgot to run the app. The app has no ads, and doesn’t ask you to pay for anything. At the moment it’s uncertain how they plan to make any money, maybe they’ll include a payment model in the future but for now it’s totally free so you should grab it while you can.
