Verizon 4G LTE modem revealed

Verizon has just revealed the modem that will be used to connect to their upcoming 4G LTE network. The modem that will be handling the data carrying duties for Verizon’s 4G LTE service is none other than the Pantech UML290 4G modem. It will support 4G LTE speeds of 5-12 Mbps for downloads and 2-5 Mbps for uploads. However when connected to 3G, expect speeds of 600 Kbps to 1.4 Mbps for downloads and 500-800 Kbps for uploads. At the moment the modem only works on Windows (XP, Vista and 7) so if you’re on a Mac, you’re out of luck for now (though it should work on a Virtual Machine running Windows). The Pantech UML290 will set you back $99.99 after a $50 rebate and a 2-year contract with Verizon, though if you want to purchase it off-contract it will cost you $249.99. Head here to check if your address will be covered by 4G LTE.
