It’s a known fact that Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 has built-in support for multiple languages, even in the keyboard itself boasts auto correct for many different dictionaries. You can imagine the surprise that Spanish-speaking users of the HTC HD7 got when they found out that they were locked into just using English on the keyboard, with no choice for any other. Many complaints on the T-Mobile forums were raised, but T-Mobile has yet to give an answer. HTC, the manufacturers of the HD7 has issued a response though- “If your Windows Phone 7 does not contain a display language that you would like to use, there is currently no way to get a new language pack installed on the phone. Microsoft makes language packs available (as they’re created) to the device manufacturers (OEMs) at the time of manufacturing and it is up to the device manufacturer and mobile operator to decide which languages to include. In this case, it was T-Mobile’s decision to only include English.” This means the onus is on T-Mobile, which pulled of a very strange move, despite America having around 35 million Spanish speaking people. Even AT&T didn’t remove the multi-lingual features on their WP7 phones. Hopefully T-Mobile realizes their mistake and issues the multi-language support in a future patch.
