Sprint lets you make calls underwater with the Kyocera Sanyo Taho

If your job requires you to face extreme conditions such as harsh weather or rough terrain, chances are you wouldn’t want to carry your precious little iPhone 4 to work lest you drop it and ruin its fragile exterior. If you’re looking for a secondary phone to fulfill the role of your work phone, Sprint’s new heavy-duty device fits the bill. Called the Sanyo Taho by Kyocera, Sprint’s first fully-submersible mobile phone has been designed to withstand the harshest conditions you can put it through. It packs a rugged exterior with a non-slip grip that ensures it doesn’t fall out of your hands while you’re on the job on a construction site or on top of a building. But if the phone does drop, it should be able to survive the fall- even if it means landing in water. The Sanyo Taho has been rated military standard 810G- which basically means it laughs in the face of dust, shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, blowing rain and water immersion (up to 3.28 feet/1 meter). But in addition to being heavy duty on the outside, the phone is fully functional on the inside as well. It comes with apps such as Sprint Navigation, Sprint Family Locator, password protection for enterprise usage (restrict incoming/outgoing calls, block camera and web access), Java support, a microSD card slot, and a 2 megapixel camera with flash.
