Despite Gingerbread (Android 2.3) only being announced yesterday, developers have already been hard at work trying to port it over to the Sprint EVO 4G based on the software development kit ROM image. Though it is only a test build that isn’t complete enough for you to use as a proper phone, it’ll only be a matter of time before it’s completely working on the EVO 4G. And chances are, the developers over at XDA will probably get it completed before Sprint releases and official update for their phone. Head over to xda-developers if you’re feeling adventurous for a taste of Gingerbread on your EVO 4G before anybody else. As usual, back up everything on your phone and make sure you know what you’re doing before trying anything. If you do try the update, let us know how it works out for you, we’re always interested to know. Android 2.3 will bring a whole list of functions to your Android phone, but support for certain features such as the gyroscope, front facing cameras and NFC will depend on the hardware of your phone.
