PlayStation Phone might be called Xperia Play

The PlayStation Phone that has been leaked out in quite a number of videos and images might launch in the market under a different name. Apparently the name “Xperia Play” has been trademarked by Sony Ericsson Europe and the company’s PR firm has registered multiple Xperia Play domain names such as xperiaplay.com, xperiaplay.net and xperiaplay.org. The name is bound to disappoint people, seeing how the Xperia hasn’t had an impressive reputation as an Android phone; it might lead people to think the same of the PlayStation Phone. But calling it the Xperia Play might be a good way to differentiate it from the PlayStation Portable seeing how it won’t play the same games. Not to mention “PlayStation Phone” would have the same initials as the PSP, leading to more confusion. Either way, names are just names- we’ll just have to let the device speak for itself when it is released. What do you think of the name Xperia Play?
