Pantech Vega X Android phone uses DDR2 RAM

The lines between computers and smartphones are starting to blur. Firstly with the inclusion of dual-core processors and GPUs, the next logical step is an upgrade of RAM. Pantech are pleased to announce the Vega X, the world’s first Android smartphone that will use DDR2 RAM- the same type of memory that’s used by regular desktops and laptops. Pantech claims that this will result in 1.5 x faster performance compared to smartphones using DDR1memory instead. The phone doesn’t pack a dual-core processor, so it’ll be interesting to see whether the RAM makes a difference when stacked against its dual-core wielding competitors. Other specs of the Pantech Vega X include a 4″ WVGA display, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera and Android 2.2. The phone will go on sale in South Korea later this week, hopefully we’ll get to see it on this side of the world as well.
