Nokia has no plans to replace Symbian in the enterprise market
Nokia business smartphones chief, Ilari Nurmi, made a pretty shocking revelation today- he said that Nokia has no plans to use MeeGo in the enterprise market. His reasoning was there are “different types of needs and wants in the enterprise market” that MeeGo somehow can’t deliver. What an odd thing to say, considering how hyped up about MeeGo Nokia and the community has been about the operating system. Well, I guess that just means no MeeGo for Nokia-toting businessmen (and women). Nurmi went on to cement Nokia’s stance on Symbian with the statement, “It’s very important to note that Symbian is the primary platform today and will also be the primary platform in the future” – which contradicts previous reports about Nokia championing MeeGo as the future of Nokia smartphones. If Nokia decide to stick with Symbian, they’ll really need to step up their game if they want to hang with the big boys.
