Apparently the latest version of iOS enables some sort of technology called fast dormancy, that helps reduce battery usage in the iPhone. Fast dormancy sets the device up with some rules that control how often it wakes up to communicate with the outside world when not in use. By telling the phone not to bother searching for a connection when idle, it would ensure the phone uses less bandwidth, and therefore consume less power. It looks like Apple is committed to improving their customers’ experiences with the iPhone by extending its battery life. How many of you have noticed a longer battery life since the iOS 4.2 update?
