Motorola Mobility will be unveiling a new device which allows the streaming of videos on smartphones and tablet PCs. Instead of just streaming content from nearby devices such as the user’s own TV or peripheral accessories, the unnamed device will get its content from outside the home instead. It could be used by cable or satellite TV providers as an incentive or to attract customers to their network, by letting customers stream content on their mobile devices for free. Besides the fact that its content will be directly streaming from the network instead of a third party device like SlingBox, what separates it from other such devices is uncertain for now. We’ll just have to wait for more details at its unveiling next year at CES. Do we need another way to stream content on our phones or what we already have in the market good enough?
