Mobile App industry to reach $35 billion by 2014

It sure feels like a good time to cash in on the app business. The IDC has just reported that revenue from mobile applications will reach $35 billion by 2014. They also predict that the number of app downloads will grow from 10.9 billion this year until 76.9.  They expect app developers to “appify” pretty much everything that could be recreated on a phone. With the cloud becoming an integral part of software nowadays, and the mobile software market relatively untapped (when compared to desktop pc software), developers are going to focus on developing for the mobile phone and cloud before developing for the computer. A few years ago, nobody would’ve thought this would happen. But with the cheaper for cost of development for mobile apps, it has allowed a lot of small time, indie developers to join the app scene. How many of you are part of this scene?
