Malware targeting Android smartphones on the rise

According to AdaptiveMobile, a mobile security company, 2010 has the highest number of reported smartphone malware infection cases – up 33% from 2009. The malware engineered specifically for Android rose most significantly, even though the total number of exploits is still low when compared to the malware on older platforms. But this increase means that cyber criminals have evolved with the times and are targeting modern day smartphones now. These malicious programs put users at risk of monetary, privacy or data loss- usually without the users even know that there’s a problem. Basically, this means that anti-virus solutions for Android smartphones are probably going to be pretty common in the future. But as usual, prevention is better than cure and users should be careful about the apps they choose to install on their phones- or go back to using dumbphones instead. Have you ever dealt with a virus on your phone before?
