LG Ally due to receive Froyo in February
In an official comment on its own forums, LG stated that their Android QWERTY slider, the LG Ally will get its official update to Froyo (Android 2.2) in February. The update will be a much needed booster shot to keep the aging Android device a new lease of life. According to the comment, Android 2.2 will bring Bluetooth, Exchange support, and voice actions to the phone. But missing from the update will be Flash 10.x. Apparently Adobe has set the minimum requirements for a device to run Flash, and the LG falls short by a mile. “Adobe has set the minimum requirements for the new Flash requiring…a 1GHz processor and the Ally runs a 600MHz processor.” Although the device won’t be sporting Flash, it should be getting Gingerbread, which is good news. After all, we’ve reported before that any device running 2.2 should be able to run 2.3. Anybody still using their LG Ally or have you already moved on to another device?
