Will the iPad 2 have a Retina Display?

An interesting article has popped up on gdgt, talking about the iPad 2’s display. According to rumors and speculation happening all over the place, the iPad 2 is supposed to have a Retina Display touchscreen. Since the iPod touch and iPhone have it, it only makes sense for the iPad to have it as well right? Wrong. In order to qualify as a Retina Display (300 DPI), the 9.7″ iPad would need a resolution of 2560 x 1920- that’s even larger than Apple’s 27″ LED Cinema Display (2560 x 1440)! And for the iPad to pack such a display, what sort of graphic processing unit will it have? Not to mention, the effect of such a screen on the tablet’s battery life. How would the current iPad HD apps work on a screen that huge? And let’s not even talk how much a device would cost. Retina Display on iPad 2- what do you guys think?
