Infinity Blade earns more than $1.6 million in 4 days

Who said mobile games can’t make any money? If you need any proof that this statement is now irrelevant, we’ll let the numbers speak for themselves. In just four days, Infinity Blade (which sells for $5.99 on the iTunes App Store) has been reported to have at least 271,000 players on Gamecenter just 4 days after it was released. This means that it has earned more than $1.6 million in this short period of time. The business model for selling mobile games at lower prices to make up for it in number of copies sold seems to be pretty successful. I wonder if PC games in the future will follow a similar method and cost of distribution. Let’s hope the success of Infinity Blade on the iOS, encourages more high profile developers to consider the smartphone/tablet as a serious gaming platform and bring more big-budget games to mobile devices. How many of you have tried Infinity Blade? What do you think of the game so far?
