It looks like HTC has plans to conquer the world with their handsets. In a recent report from DigiTimes, the Taiwanese manufacturer has plans to release 45 to 50 million devices in 2011. A huge step up from the 25 million units projected for this year. According to the report, HTC are looking for a suitable component manufacturer to help supply them with their demand. Apparently they have selected Ichia Technologies, a supplier they have worked with in the past, but didn’t do too well due to the fact that Ichia were busy with Nokia’s orders and because of that, they couldn’t meet HTC’s demands. Now it looks like HTC is willing to give them a second chance by letting them handle the printed circuit boards. If things go well, it would be a lucrative deal for them, after all 45-50 million isn’t a small number. They’ll just need to make sure they can keep up with the manufacturing company. What do you think of HTC’s projected numbers for 2011?
