HTC confirms Gingerbread will be coming to “some phones”

HTC has recently released a statement concerning the arrival of Android 2.3 on their HTC phones. When contacted by TechRadar about the update, they gave a pretty vague reply, “We are excited about the OS update coming for Android, and while HTC will definitely have some phones running this OS, we do not have a specific timeframe for new phones or updates at this time. Please stay tuned for more details.” For now, the answer “some phones” will be as good as it gets, but knowing HTC, it will probably mean the updates will reach their latest devices first before the rest of the older models. HTC has had a proven track record of usually being the first manufacturer to release the latest version of Android for their handsets. Of course it did help that they were involved in the creation of the Google Nexus One with Google. Now with Samsung at the helm of the Nexus devices, let’s see if HTC can maintain their record of releasing Android on time.
