Fring has just launched a new version of their VoIP software that now features DVQ – Dynamic Video Quality. What this does is that it automatically adjusts, on the fly, the video quality that it sends out from your phone, depending on the coverage you’re getting. This ensures that both parties will always experience smooth and unchoppy video calling. So let’s say you’re in an area with low network coverage, Fring will send out a lower bitrate video from your phone- the quality will suffer a bit, but it will remain smooth. Once you head back into an area with better coverage, Fring will resume sending out a higher bitrate video. They claim it’s the only VoIP app to do this – for now at least, I’m pretty sure others will follow suit soon. Fring is available for free on the iTunes store and Android Market.
