French politicians want to tax tablets

The French government has some plans to make a whole load of cash. According to a report online, politicians in France want to tax all tablets that don’t run the Windows operating system. Currently their taxes have been levied for electronics that aren’t computers and can watch movies or listen to MP3s. So, personal media players and MP3 players have been taxed but computers are kept tax-free. But wait that’s not all. Apparently their definition of a computer is a device that runs Windows- Linux or Mac OS computers get taxed just like the media players. Very counter-intuitive especially when some manufacturers choose to run Linux instead of Windows to save costs. And now, they seem to think that tablets are just larger, glorified phones and MP3 players and deserve to be taxed. Talk about weird crazy laws in their country. I wonder what will happen when they find out tablets can run Windows too.
