There was a recent report on a person that claimed he was injured by his exploding Motorola Droid 2. There was already a certain amount of skepticism associated with the original report and now word is going around that a source within Motorola believes that the claims are false. According to the source, the phone didn’t explode as there was no explosive damage apparent on the device, such as things being blown outward. The fact that the phone still worked also raised questions as it was mentioned that the only things that could explode in a phone would have resulted in a phone that didn’t work. It’s believed that the phone was dropped and the person didn’t notice that the glass had cracked, thus cutting himself when he put his ear to it. Do bear in mind that this isn’t the official response from Motorola and we’re still waiting for an official update on the matter.
